Author Biography


Alexander M. Martin, Professor of History, University of Notre Dame

Alexander M. Martin grew up in Germany and France, took his undergraduate degree at Cornell University in 1985, and earned a PhD in Russian history at the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. He taught at Oglethorpe University from 1993 to 2006, and at the University of Notre Dame from 2006 to the
present. From 2003 to 2011, he was an editor at the journal Kritika: Explorations in Russian and Eurasian History. His research is broadly centred on Russian and European history from the mid-eighteenth to the mid-nineteenth century.
