Summary

Dan Gookin, author of DOS For Dummies and PCs For Dummies, is an unparalleled expert at helping beginners understand and use computers. He brings that expertise, with the help of co-author, wife, and Parenting For Dummies author Sandy Gookin, to PCs For Dummies Quick Reference. This new edition to the ...For Dummies Quick Reference series is an ideal reference for any beginning PC user who needs immediate answers to computing questions at their fingertips. The lay-flat book offers help in setting up a PC, using the basic Windows applications, and getting on the Internet. The book also helps users who want to improve their PC with upgrades or new hardware.

Author Biography

About the Authors Dan Gookin considers himself a writer and computer "guru" whose job it is to remind everyone computers are not to be taken too seriously. His approach to computers is light and humorous, yet very informative. Dan's most recent titles include the best-selling Word 2000 for Windows For Dummies, PCs For Dummies, 7th Edition, and Dan Gookin Teaches Windows 98. He is the author of the original For Dummies book, DOS For Dummies. All told, he's written over 75 books on computers. Dan currently lives with his wife Sandra (see below) and four sons somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Sandra Hardin Gookin has the remarkable ability to make difficult tasks easy to understand. This comes from her Speech Communications degree from Oklahoma State University, but mainly from having to communicate with her 5 boys (4 children + 1 husband, Dan). Sandra's other books include Parenting For Dummies, How to Use Excel 2000, Discover Windows 95, and The Illustrated Computer Dictionary For Dummies. Together, Dan and Sandra's number one commitment is to their children. However, you can also find them directing and acting in their great community theatre, the Lake City Playhouse.
